To be perfectly fair, Maximillion felt they could do a lot better. They were still trying to use simple, menial tactics to get at him. And although Ayame seemed to respond well to Neji's direction, Hikaru was still pretty much going about things his own way. Hikaru was a genius at his craft, but he thought too much of himself. Ego was easily one of the biggest downfall of otherwise great Shinobi. The young Nara would have to learn this lesson while he was young, before premature death prevented him from growing old.
The minions Hikaru sent seemed a little distorted. It took a second, but then Maximillion realized why. Hikaru didn't really have enough Chakra to be manipulating their actions like this. They were designed to be a distraction or to perform recon, and here they were being used for combat. The chances were high that Hikaru didn't really know the potential of his Jutsu, and that he may even need some training in how to mold his Chakra, so as to improve upon what he may already know.
As the shadows came towards him, Maximillion bit down on the index and middle finger of his right hand, pressing them against some hidden seals on his wristguard. The giant fan vanished, but a silver crossbow attachment formed at his wrist. Reaching his other hand forward, he used the Seal on his right armguard to conjure three bolts and he slowly moved his hand to track the shadows' movements.
*thwip!* *thwip!* *thwip!*
It sounded more like a single shot, rather than the three it was. The shadows would be forced to move away from the path of the crossbow bolts, which gave just a little more time for Maximillion to drop off of the branch onto a slightly lower one. He raised the hand the crossbow was attached to, and it would suddenly fire off twelve more shots. Four for harmless (yet painful) spots on Ayame's body, four for Neji's body (which he knew could easily be deflected), then four more aimed at stunning points on Nara Hikaru.
Depending on how they reacted to this, it would determine what move Maximillion would execute next..
