OOC: I'm going to make this thread. I'll post an into and a Hikaru post. So yeah...
The Students were to meet with their new teacher. True, there were only two students, but not enough students had passed the academy to form perfect teams of three. So, as a result, until someone else could be found, Neji was to teach only two Genin.
There were three logs erect. Behind was a memorial stone, and the forest around.

It had been a few days since the festival. The events of it had shook his mind.... Hikaru just simply shook his head. He had to play Foolish Konoha Genin until he could leave. He ran, and tripped. He fell face first into the dirt. He looked up.

Neji, seated on the center stump in a meditative lotus pose, didn't even open his eyes as the boy running towards him tripped and fell. When Hikaru looked up it was into Neji's calm eyes as jumped from the post and landed in front of his new pupil. Tsunade-sama owes me for this, but it could be worse... he gave the boy a moment before offering him his hand to aid in his recovery. "Hikaru Nara, I see... when your teammate arrives we will commence with introductions and I will give you a csmall test to see where I can best aid you in you training." his voice was serene and his lavender eyes held a deep calm in them. He had though long and hard and decided to be a helpful instructor instead of... Gai... Or Kakashi... He mentally sighed and waited for the boy to take the offered help.

Hikaru instead got up on his own and wiped his hands on his pants. "Thanks, but I can get up alone." He looked at Neji. A weirdo. And a member of the Hyuuga. So thus, an enemy. Hikaru hid his hostility deep underneath, and controlled his body so that is expressed nervousness. "What kind of test? A stupid written one?" Hikaru sighed. He didn't like this guy already. And Neji was supposed to be strong....

OOC: Sooo sorry for the long absence. My computer was damaged and had to be fixed. Just got it back today haha.
Ayame approached Hikaru and Neji, mentally scolding herself for being late. So much for making a good impression. "Sorry, sorry" she said, bowing to Neji. She glanced at Hikaru, then back to Neji. "Did I miss something?"

The jonin gave the girl an impassive look," Actually, I was about to tell your teammate about your test." Neji's activated his doujutsu, his uninterested face seemed to harden as the veins throbbed and rose to just beneath his skin around his eyes. They gained a fractured looking pupil and it was this gaze he fixed his two students with. Hikaru seemed to have a surprising amount of chakra, but still normal for an advanced genin. The female of the trio seemed normal and after his investigation of their chakra coils he did something he was sure the two would remember for a long time to come: He assumed the Jyuuken stance, his hard gaze upon them as he spoke in a clear, quiet voice," Your task is simply to land a blow on me." The Hyuuga prodigy looked sharply at them, his stance stiffening as he set into it,"You may use weapons and jutsu you posess. You have three hours to each successfully hit me. I will defend myself, so be prepared to face an enemy beyond your ability to face one on one." He almost refrained from giving them his tip, but he knew the Nara was intelligent and that this would likely speed the process of team building. "I will then build a training schedule around what works best for you as individuals and as a team. Ready? You may begin."

Hikaru smiled. This was going to be easy. "Is that all? Heheh, I guess you upper class people are a bit too cocky." Saying this, Hikaru ftook out a scroll. "Summoning technique, Shadow Minions!" 50 ghoulish shadow creatures formed from the shadows of nearby trees. Hikaru waved his finger, and each of them rushed forward with a sword. He had planned the whole battle the moment it had been announced. His shadow imitation and his minions alone could beat the jounin prodigy. He was confident.
He then began forming the seals for shadow imitation jutsu.

Ayame frowned at Hikaru's attempt to do this all on his own. "You're pretty cocky yourself Hikaru" she muttered as she pulled out her fans. Ayame was sure that Neji would easily counter Hikaru's minions. She began focusing her chakra through the fans, readying herself for her chance to attack. She made sure to pay attention to Neji, eager to witness the Hyuuga defense up close.

Neji merely watched the oncoming hordes and the Nara boy doing handsigns. He actually sighed and stood straight, relaxing his stance as the first shadow beast neared him. "You won't succeed at this rate." He tilted his head to the side, allowing the first of the beasts to charge past while narrowly avoiding a slash. The second he sidestepped while watching the boy finish his signs and the girl prepare to join the fray. He danced through the swinging swords and yet moved very little from his starting position. He would sidestep, twist at the hips, tilt his head, one time he spun on the spot as the beast lumbered past.He suddenly smirked and leaped back towards the posts, flipping with a twist in midair to resume his place on the post where he had been when Hikaru arrived. "You are not very coordinated and have not considered your opponent Hikaru. I am more agile and far faster than you or your beasts. You seem to believe that a genin is capable of facing a jonin who knows of your clan based techniques. You have rumors of my skill, seen my clan. I can tell," he said with no inflection though his eyes sparkled," that you are jealous of my clan, of most clans in fact. You are fool enough to think I would engage your techniques head on?"
Neji suddenly glared and with a small poof of smoke a log appeared where he had been. He now was hiding in a large tree twnety yards from the river bank. He shook his head and sighed. The boy had talent but the girl had more sense. For a Nara he had very little perception of his own scope. Neji had watched the boy and his seals and leaped to safety having seen Shikamaru use it numerous times.

"Lively bunch, eh Neji?"
The voice came from right behind him the instant he'd lept up in the tree. If he looked back, he would see a dark complected man with long, raven black hair reclining there with what appeared to be a self-help book of some sort, but it didn't seem as if the man had been reading it in quite some time.
"I was initially sent here to assist you and your team with training, but you've got yourself quite the handful. Still, orders are orders."
He pocketed the small book in his Shinobi Pouch and laid a hand on Neji's shoulder.
"Would you mind introducing me to your students? You are their acting Captain, after all, and it wouldn't be polite of me to just barge in."

Hikaru knew he wasn't coordinated. He knew that Neji wouldn't succumb to his minions. The first attack was a forlorn hope, otherwise known as a suicide attack. His minions had gone in to see exactly what Neji was made out of.
The next attack would be a diversion for the coup de grace. The fact Neji underestimated him already was just a bonus. Hikaru knew Neji knew some Nara jutsu, but Hikaru had developed his own jutsu, some that Neji could never know about.
Now, the question is to find the old bat. Where would I hide? A tree? A rock? Hikaru needed to find Neji. He formed hand seals for his unique shadow probing technique. Instantly, long tendrils of shadows scavenged around the forest, seeking... feeling....

Ayame watched Neji closely, taking note of his movements. She wasn't much of a strategist but she only needed to hit him once. Hand to hand combat against a Hyuuga was suicide but, with her fans, Ayame felt confident. So focused on watching Neji, Ayame jumped slightly as she heard an unfamiliar voice. "Lively bunch, eh Neji?" Keeping her stance, she found the newcomer. "Now what" Ayame asked aloud, more to herself than to anyone in particular. It was hard enough worrying about Neji with a teammate who was interested in doing it all himself. A small smile crossed her face as she shrugged it off, thinking this would just make the test more interesting.

Neji straightened on the branch as watched the drifting tendrils of shadows. He felt the branch shift slightly as someone joined him.
"Lively bunch, eh Neji?"
He had a moment and decide to answer Hishirugi. He is pretty good at stealth, but with my Byakugan at least he didn't surprise me... I might have slipped and gotten into Hikaru's jutsu. "Indeed they are, but I am disappointed slightly in the Nara boy, his recklessness is reminiscent of an academy student. So you are to help me with these two? That is quite the honor, and I believe now is as a time as any... let's go meet the prospects." He used a simple shunshin to appear behind his student's and hoped Maximillion would follow him.
A poof of smoke alerted the two he was sure but just case hikaru had any ideas he called to them," Hang on a moment. We have a co-leader. Nara Hikaru, Ayame Hagane; meet Jonin Hashigiri Maximillion. We will be both leading you and training you. We also will be changin our training method slightly to get a grip on how far along you are. Hishirugi-senpai, how would you like to proceed," He turned to his new teammate and veteran to judge how he wanted to proceed. His team was not anymore strictly his team, and he would make allowances for that. He needed to exemplify teamwork and cooperation to these young ninja and the best way to do that was to lead by example.

Hikaru halted the jutsu. He sighed heavily. It took effort to use any of his own techniques, but they were almost all worth it. He didn't lower his guard in case the aristocrats decided to trick him, but rather, he just stood. He turned around. There was Master Neji. Hikaru's minions decided they were bored and went off into the forest catching squirrels to eat. Shadow minions gotta eat too, right?
Hikaru folded his arms. Great, another jounin to tell him what to do. Well, he would be out of here in a few weeks so it didnt matter.

Maximillion waited a few seconds before joining Neji on the ground. Although he took his time getting there, he appeared right on the spot without delay. Without using the Body Flicker Technique, he was still very fast on his feet. Almost TOO fast.
"My name is Hishirugi Maximillion. I am going to be assisting your Sensei with instructing his students." he said simply. There wasn't really much else to it than that, but he knew he would be expected to say a little more. "I will not be on your side, nor will I be against you. I will simply be fulfilling my duties as they were assigned to me by the Hokage. Until told otherwise, you would all do well to assume we're going to be in this together for the long haul."
Not one much for formalities, nor one really all that good with diplomacy. However, Maximillion hadn't been assigned here to be a diplomat. He'd been assigned here to help inspect how the other Jounins were doing, and to assist wherever was necessary. Plus, there was a Mission in the works that he and Neji would need to team up for, and the Team would have to learn some serious teamwork skills before they could go out and accomplish what was being set out for them.
"I would like to break the ice with a training exercise."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a single scroll. On it was the kanji for "TRUTH". It was a rather plain looking scroll, gray and black, and didn't look all that interesting.
"Your goal is to snatch this from me. You are welcome to do it as a team, or to attempt it individually. However, your Sensei will be observing your performance and seeing what -- if anything -- needs work."
He looked to Hyuuga Neji and gave him a knowing look. If Neji wanted to participate, he was welcome to. However, he might find out that Maximillion was exceptional at what he did, and it was a good idea that he not be underestimated. It might be a good exercise for everyone, though, and this is what his look to the Hyuuga Clansman conveyed.

Hikaru's face lit up, and his minions suddenly flicked their heads Maximillion's way. A fight. This is what the minions wanted. They stood, forming their arms into all sorts of weapons.
Hikaru smiled. A team, laughable? Neji would compromise them all by being all pompous with his noble heritage. No, he and Ayame would do everything.
"Ayame. You go for the back, I'll strike from the front. I'm more of an open attacker. I launch everything I got. Meanwhile,y ou try to steal that scroll, ok?" Hikaru whispered from the corner of his mouth. He wouldn't trust Neji.
Without waiting for a reply, he charged forward, forming his minions into formation, all ready to shoot or slash the weirdo down. among the minions, 3 of them slinked away. These were Shadow mimicries. They would fufill their purpose later....
Hikaru formed handseals for his special leaf letter bomb technique. Instantly, leaves rained down upon the jounin, and burst. To be sure of extra damage, Hikaru tossed a few Knuai into the explosion, along with a grenade.
Hikaru's minions aimed their weapons as the smoke cleared away....

Maximillion quirked a brow at Hikaru as he started employing the aid of his Shadow Minions. There makeup was quite interesting, almost reminiscent of The Shadowmancer's own Jutsu. However, there were some obvious variances...they could be investigated later.
Hikaru went right away to employ explosives. Not the best idea. As the leaves came raining down, Maximillion had already phased out of sight. Thirty yards away, he was twirling something in his hand with enough force to send the leaves cascading back towards Hikaru and Ayame. Somehow, the kunai and the grenade had been blown towards the team as well. Ceasing the twirling -- and revealing that the object in his hand was a gigantic fan -- Maximillion raised up his free hand and snapped his fingers. A thin arc of Chakra whipped through the air and danced around the leaves and grenade, detonating them near instantly.
The explosions weren't enough to kill or seriously injure any of the students -- nor their instructor -- but it was going to hurt like hell.
"You're Shinobi, not barbarians. A frontal attack is not going to do you much good. You would have better luck going about it in a more sneaky way, such as Hikaru is trying to do now..."
What, did he know about the Shadow Warriors? This was uncertain. However, Maximillion had been a Jounin for about a decade now. He wasn't about to be shown up this easily, least of all by young ninja who hadn't yet mastered the subtleties of being Ninja.

Neji caught the look in the fellow jonin's eyes and imperceptibly nodded. He too would take part in this game. But before he could even try to marshal his team they had attacked and been repelled, but his eyes caught the sneaking beasts as well as the thin thread of chakra and he used his own considerable speed to get between the explosives and the genin.
"Hakkesho: Kaiten!" He spun like top, expelling a good amount of chakra to deflect the flames and shrapnel away from his team. He felt the heat momentarily before it faded as his dome of blue chakra also dissipated. He gave the senior jonin a small frown and raised an eyebrow as if to say What are they playing at? He shook his head and settled himself into a Jyuuken stance,"Hikaru, I want you to use your minions to try and force him to engage me, as he already knows of them. But if you have the control I think you do over them use them to attack from the shadows and fade into the shadows, they will have a better chance of being successful. Yourself and Ayame should circle and use supportive and suppressive long range attacks.I have enough chakra and defensive skill to maintain his focus and protect you so long as you try to stay nearer me than him. My skills are only useful if I am able to get between him and you."
He shifted his weight to his back foot, his gaze leveling again at Maximillion with a slight smirk, though a friendly one," This frontal assault is useless unless you have the raw power to overpower your foe or the ability to outmanuever them. Neither of you possess those skills, in truth Hishirugi-senpai is above my own talents to face one on one." He paused to let that sink in and watched his students with his enhanced vision. He knew Hikaru was for some reason resentful of him, but he needed to put the good of the mission first then sort out his petty hurts. This would be the first test of the boy's ability to take orders and think like a ninja instead of a child.
Without further adieu he seemed to flicker as he charged, faster than his genin could follow and began his dance-like attack: a palm to the shoulder followed with a spearhand to the abdomen and a reverse knife hand to the side of the neck. He knew his attacks would no be very likely to succeed but he didn't lace chakra in his strikes as it was a training exercise and he had no ill will for the other man. The three combo was followed with a swift palm thrust to the left side before he grinned and said,"Empty Palm!" Blasting a condensed chakra laced burst of air at his enemy.

Before Ayame could reply, Hikaru had already acted. Once she saw the leaves fall upon the jounin, she took off, hoping it provided a good distraction. She froze, however, after realizing he was no longer there. Looking around, she noticed him standing a good thirty yards away. She also noticed the leaves and explosives Hikaru sent threw coming back their way. She raised her fans in defense, but there was no need. Neji had already repelled the explosion. Yourself and Ayame should circle and use supportive and suppressive long range attacks.I have enough chakra and defensive skill to maintain his focus and protect you so long as you try to stay nearer me than him. My skills are only useful if I am able to get between him and you." Ayame looked at Neji, then to Hikaru. She gave a small nod and focused her chakra once more. She would need quite a bit of it to produce strong enough winds for long range battle.

Hikaru scowled. He didn't like taking orders, especially from pompous upper class ninjas. He almost rejected the order, util he caught Ayame's eye. He realized he was being selfish. If he wanted to fix the rich, he had to demonstrate how they should act, no hinder. He had to work with his team, not hinder it for his personal vendetta.
Hikaru, instantly gave his minions orders. He didn't have to yell, the minions shared a bond with him, closer than family. They were first minions, but now these summons had acted as his surrogate family when he had been alone. He had given them personality: They had given him company.
The three nodded, formed into lions, and began prancing to corner the Jounin into neji's hands. Meanwhile, the other minions had gotten into postition to halt any retreat.
