(Note: Please see this thread for information on how to create your own character.)
Once you've finished creating your own character, you'll most certainly want to apply for jutsu, as a ninja with no jutsu won't last very long in battle. To do this, simply visit our Jutsu/Kekkei Genkai/Equipment Registration board, and use our special template. However, you'll want to read further for a list of rules and restrictions regarding jutsu. It is already assumed that your character knows all of the basic techniques [Clone, Substitution, Transformation, Tree Walking, Water Walking, etc.], so please don't worry about applying for them.
You can't just apply for any jutsu you want, however. As you're probably aware, jutsu can be categorized in three ways; element, type, and rank. Depending on some of the choices you make within your character's profile, you'll be allowed to apply for some techniques, but there will also be some that you won't be able to apply for.
Jutsu Ranks:
One way that jutsu are classified, as I mentioned above, is by rank. In order from weakest to strongest, we have E-rank, D-rank, C-rank, B-rank, A-rank, and S-rank techniques. Every ninja rank will have a cap in terms of what rank of jutsu they can apply for. These caps are:
Genin:
D-rank
Chuunin:
C-rank
Jounin:
B-rank
You may be asking to yourself, "What about A and S-rank techniques?" In order to apply for techniques that exceed your rank limitations, you'll have to have the right Combat Affinity (scroll down to find out more).
Elemental Affinity:
One of the things you had to do in the character template was selecting an elemental affinity for your character (or two, if you met the requirements). This determines what element of jutsu you can apply for.
There are many different elements, some of which that are mixtures of two or more elements that combine to form unique Kekkei Genkai. For this area, however, we're only concerned with the basic elements; Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Lightning.
Let's say you chose "Water" as your elemental affinity of choice. If you were to apply for any elemental-based techniques, they would have to be of the Water element. The only way to apply for techniques of a different element would be to acquire an additional elemental affinity.
In order to acquire a second elemental affinity, you must have acquired a minimum of 250 posts. Once you've met this requirement, simply PM any mod or admin, tell us what you'd like your second affinity to be, what character this new affinity will go to, and we'll add it into their profile. Also, if you make any additional characters in the future, you'll be allowed to give them two elemental affinities right off the bat.
(Note: Taijutsu, Genjutsu, and non-elemental Ninjutsu and Kekkei Genkai are completely unaffected by this category.)
Combat Affinity:
In addition to the elemental affinity, we have come up with something that we like to call the "Combat Affinity." Some ninja excel in a certain area; some are Genjutsu masters, some are Taijutsu masters, and some focus mainly on Ninjutsu or a special Kekkei Genkai (For more on Kekkei Genkai, scroll down). Depending on what you choose as your combat affinity, you'll be allowed to apply for high ranking techniques in that area that exceed the limitations set forth by your ninja rank.
To simplify this, let's say you're a Jounin, and you chose "Ninjutsu" as your combat affinity. Normally, B-rank techniques are the maximum you can learn. With a ninjutsu combat affinity, while you'll still be limited to B-rank Taijutsu and Genjutsu-based techniques, you'll be allowed to apply for A-rank ninjutsu. In short, you can apply for techniques that are one rank higher than your character's rank limitations, so long as the typing of the technique matches your character's respective combat affinity.
Some ninja know more than just ordinary jutsu; some might have a unique bloodline trait, A.K.A. a "Kekkei Genkai". Some examples of Kekkei Genkai are a unique new element (e.g. Wood, Ice, etc.) that are a combination of two or more elements, or a physical part of your body (e.g. Sharingan, Byakugan, etc.).
If you want to create your own Kekkei Genkai, visit the Jutsu/Kekkei Genkai/Equipment Registration]Jutsu/Kekkei Genkai/Equipment Registration board, and use our special template.
Due to how vastly different they are to custom jutsu, custom summonings, puppets, and weapons have their own template. To view this template, simply go to the Jutsu/Kekkei Genkai/Equipment Registration board, or go straight to the template by clicking here.
